About the Event

Maplewood Flats in North Vancouver has a wonderful history of connecting the public with local birds on their site. We want to do the same, only with native bees. Furthermore, the Coast Salish Native Plant Nursery is a fabulous place to pick up plants for your own bee garden.

Celebrate World Bee Day by joining Senaqwila Wyss, Madame Beespeaker (aka Lori Weidenhamer), and Christine Thuring to learn about our local wild bees, the places they live, and the plants they forage on. We’ll be playing Bee BINGO and spotting and identifying bees using special Beespeaker Bee Gazing Frames that have photographs of different local bees.

We’ll teach folks how to photograph bees and contribute to community science by adding their observations to the iNaturalist Bee Tracker Project.
