Inspire people of all ages to care about and care for the natural world.

Why support bees?
Why should you be as excited about BC’s native bees as we are?

For one, they are eco-system superstars!

Bees hairy bodies and specialized pollen carrying structures make them efficient at collecting pollen as they move from flower to flower. As they do so, they are ensuring that the fruits and berries enjoyed by wildlife (and humans!) grow. And, the diversity brought about by cross pollination means that the next generation of plants can adapt to a changing planet, continue to clean the air, prevent erosion, and feed people & animals. Wow!

As well as being vital to our planet’s health, bees are super cool!

They come in all the colours of the rainbow and live everywhere in our province, from sea level up to the mountaintops. Native bees come in many sizes and shapes, from big & fuzzy to tiny & sleek. With more than 500 different native bee species here in BC, they provide a constant source of joy as they buzz from flower to flower.

Around 75% of flowering plants need an animal pollinator, and bees are up to the task!
