About the Event
Mark your calendars (RSVP if you haven't yet!) and join us at our Annual General Meeting on November 17th (7pm). You can look forward to hearing about what our Society has been up to over the last year, with highlights on our accomplishments, and updates from the B.C. Bee Atlas and some of the early data. You'll also learn about what we have planned for the future, which includes some membership votes. To have your say and contribute to NBSBC's progress, make sure your membership is up to date.
"The Power of Citizen Science to Help BC Native Bees"

Most exciting of all, we are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker is none other than Madame Beespeaker. Our very own Lori Weidenhammer, who is still touring her book, the revised edition of "Victory Gardens for Bees", and has been adventuring hard all year!
Lori will share some of this year’s highlights of our BC Bee Tracker Project on iNaturalist, along with tales of her travels leading bee walks in some stunning locations in various BC Parks. She will talk about her passion for getting folks hooked on citizen science to work creating useful and informative observations to help study and protect BC native bees.
Important Note! We will also be holding our Board of Director election! This year we are hoping to fill four spaces on our Board with passionate bee-loving volunteers!
Executive Member – Co-Chair - a key position guiding the overall direction of the Board. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in non-profit leadership within a collaborative environment.
Member-at-Large – Fundraising - We are looking for someone to guide us as we pursue registered charity status, and who has experience and/or passion for fundraising.
Member-at-Large – Equity, Diversity, Decolonization & Inclusion (EDDI) - We’re committed to ensuring that the Society reflects the diversity of BC communities and native bees. Help us identify strengths and gaps in inclusion.
Member-at-Large – Academic Liaison - This new role focuses on building and strengthening connections with academic institutions. It is well-suited for someone with academic experience or strong networks in the research community who is eager to bridge science and conservation practice.
